Editorial policy

Light Years guides are general information for people using GLP-1 medications and the people who support them. They are not medical advice. This page explains how they are made.

Sources

  • We prefer primary sources: regulators (Health Canada, the FDA), government drug plans, product monographs, and peer-reviewed research. News reporting is used for things only the news records, such as reported pharmacy prices, and is named as such.
  • Every factual section links to its source. Each guide ends with a numbered source list showing when each link was last checked.
  • We never invent figures. Estimates are labelled as estimates.

Prices and coverage

  • Every price or coverage rule we state as a figure is kept in a source registry with its exact scope, source link, the date it was checked, and whether we have the right to republish it.
  • A figure is shown as current only if it was checked recently and we have the right to publish it as live. Otherwise it is shown as "as reported" with its date, or not at all.
  • Pages say which country or province they apply to.
  • We never say that you qualify for coverage, that something improves your chance of approval, or that a renewal will be approved. Your plan, pharmacist and prescriber decide those.

Medical boundaries

  • No dose recommendations, no advice to start, stop, switch or stretch a medication.
  • Trend and pattern features describe your own logged numbers. They do not diagnose, explain causes, or measure whether a treatment is working.

Review dates

Each guide shows when it was last fact-checked against its sources and when its next review is due: every 90 days for price, coverage and approval pages, and every 365 days for method explainers. Pages past their review date say so at the top. Clinical review is separate — see the medical review policy.

Review status

  • Draft: written, but not yet fact-checked against its sources. Drafts are labelled as such at the top of the page.
  • Pending medical review: fact-checked against every cited source, and waiting for a clinician. This is the status of every guide today.
  • Medically reviewed: a qualified clinician has reviewed the page. Their name, credentials and the review date appear under the title.
  • Every guide ends with a dated list of changes to that page.

Authors

Guides are written and edited by Joshua Nichvolodoff. Drafts may be prepared with the help of AI writing tools; a person checks every factual statement against the cited source before it is published, and is accountable for it.

Independence

  • No manufacturer, pharmacy, insurer or advertiser reviews, pays for or approves our content.
  • Light Years currently runs no ads and no affiliate links. If that changes, ads and affiliate links will be labelled, kept off the tracker and tools, and will never influence what a guide says. See the advertising policy and affiliate disclosure.
